The role
As a Fullstack Developer at Viaplay, you will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of digital media, develop the platform to meet the challenges of a continuously growing user base. You will work mainly in our backend services but also on our web and smart TV’s to enable rapid improvements in our core solutions. Your engagement will shape the future of our service as you will be involved in defining the cutting edge for video on demand. We are now looking for a new team member to help us grow the platform, enhance our user experience and create the next generation of streaming services.
We thrive in using cutting edge technology, always keeping up to date and constantly challenging the status quo. We work with Node.js in a micro-services architecture that runs in AWS. Also, we build our whole product here in-house.
The journey ahead
You will join a kick-ass and stability cross-functional small but mighty squad team based in both Stockholm and Barcelona and deliver engineering solutions aligned with technical and product long-term visions. The team delivers on clear goals based on our customer journey and is focusing on the customer authentication journey but has other responsibilities within our core services.
Some Of Your Daily Challenges Will Include
Running and taking ownership of technical design, complexity assessment, development, testing, and deployment
Collaboration with other teams in an exciting and agile development process
Participating in weekly guild meetings with discussions around best practices, maintenance, and long-term vision
Writing clean, reusable, legible code that is easy to test and easy to extend
Investing in our personal skills and increasing our knowledge every day
What We’re Looking For
We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we are looking for a passionate developer with a genuine interest in software development and an ambition to constantly improve your skills. You have worked with a variety of tasks requiring complex problem solving using JavaScript. If you also have an interest in multiple programming languages, you will fit right in! You will be part of a team that makes things happen in a brilliant manner.
Solid work life experience developing web based services, using Node.js
Good understanding of REST API
Understanding of test- or behavior-driven development (TDD/BDD) including supporting frameworks
Experience in developing services in the cloud, preferably AWS
An interest and motivation to work with modern frameworks
Experience of working with some Frontend magic, such as React.js
It’s a Bonus If You Have
Experience working with a state-less and high transactional end user product
Knowledge of the AWS environment and services (S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, etc)
Knowledge of RUST
A can-do attitude, sense of humor and the ability to work humbly with others.
